Where in the World is Gadsden County?

Gadsden County Florida was created in 1823.  Named for James Gadsden of South Carolina, who served as Andrew Jackson's  aide-de-camp in Florida in 1818, it is located in the North Florida Panhandle. Gadsden County is nestled by Georgia to the north, and Liberty County on the south. Separated from Jackson County by the Apalachicola River to our west, and the Ochlockonee River divides us from Leon County to the east. West Gadsden Historical Society has a simple, but robust mission and it's all about preserving the history of Gadsden County, Florida. A jewel in the Panhandle,  our rolling hills are dotted with rich farmland, pastures and hardwood and pine forests. We invite you to visit our communities and learn about our history. You will be amazed!
